Freeze Warning Issued for JAX as Temperatures Plummet

Freeze warning in effect as temperatures drop below freezing

. (.)

Dew point temperatures have climbed to 29 degrees from the 15 degree dew point recorded around 1 p.m. The light winds and increasing dew points will lead to the potential for widespread frost along with freezing to near freezing temperatures.

There is still enough wiggle room for another record low. Wednesday’s record low is 31 degrees, set in 2011.

Record low temperatures started the day as the thermometer at JAX dropped to 28 degrees, beating the old record of 35 degrees, set in 1977. This was the second-earliest date with a minimum temperature of 28 degrees or less.

Don’t put away the jackets or plant protection yet as we have another cold night ahead.
