JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The coldest air of the season is on the way as we head into Tuesday and Wednesday!
In fact, this is the coldest air we have seen since early January.
Several alerts are in effect for our area.
Let’s break down our forecast, what alerts are in effect for our area and what they mean.
Starting with today, there’s a Red Flag Warning in effect for a portion of our area due to the fire weather threat.
This is to account for the dry ground and breezy conditions. Should anything be ignited outdoors, it could spread rapidly due to the factors mentioned above.
Make sure to avoid open flames or sparks. Outdoor burning is not recommended through at least mid-week.
A reminder that open burning of yard debris is prohibited year-round in Duval County.
Temperatures will plunge overnight thanks to a clear sky and a light wind.
A Freeze Warning is in effect for Tuesday morning to highlight the areas that have the best chance of falling to or below freezing.
This warning includes a large portion of our area away from the coast.
Temperatures are expected to fall into the 20s to low 30s in the warning area Tuesday morning.
Make sure to take precautions now if you have outdoor plants.
A Freeze Watch has also been posted for a portion of our area for Wednesday as temperatures are expected to fall close to or below freezing once again.
