Freeze Watch Issued for Inland Areas Monday Night

Cold front brings season’s lowest temperatures

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A strong cold front will cross our area tonight, ushering in the coldest air of the season early this week. Temperatures tonight will be much cooler with lows in the 40s.

The coldest air of the season will arrive early this week.

Monday will be breezy behind the front and high temperatures will struggle to climb out of the 50s. This is well below normal for this time of year.

A Freeze Watch is in effect.

A Freeze Watch is in effect for our inland locations from Monday night through Tuesday morning. A widespread freeze is likely for those areas within the freeze alert with temperatures in the 20s. Make sure to take protective measures now if you have any sensitive vegetation. Outside of the watch and closer to the coast, temperatures will likely fall to or just above freezing (32 degrees).

The wind chill will fall into the 20s early Tuesday.

Factoring in the wind with temperatures near freezing, the wind chill for everyone will drop into the 20s. A Cold Weather Advisory may be required due to the low wind chill.

Highs on Tuesday will climb into the 50s once again. Many spots will drop into the 30s once again Wednesday morning. Temperatures will begin to climb back into the 70s later next week, but overnight lows will likely remain in the 40s and 50s through next weekend.

Monday: Sunny Sky & Breezy. Much Cooler. High 61, Low 32.

Tuesday: Sunny Sky & Breezy. Cold. High 58, Low 35.

Wednesday: Sunny Sky. Not as Cool. High 69, Low 44.

Thursday: Sunny Sky. Pleasant. High 75, Low 47.
