LIVE RADAR: Light rain approaches from Central Georgia as cold front nears

Tidal flooding looms into work week

Sunshine is back for the rest of week despite tidal flood issues and a cold front late Sunday night. Rain accumulation will be less than a tenth of an inch tonight.

A high rip current risk remains in effect through Monday with waves breaking at five to eight feet. A high surf advisory remains in effect. Minor to moderate flooding remains an issue into the work week with it remaining an issue for those living along the Saint Johns River and minor impacts along the coast and intercoastal. Beach erosion has become visible at multiple coastal counties. Small boats are advised to stay out of the ocean until conditions improve. Winds will persist from the north and east through most of the week before shifting from the south.

SUNDAY EVENING FORECAST

Temperatures will drop into the low 60s to upper 50s before midnight with winds from the north and northwest. Cloud coverage will diminish as high humidity remains. Light rain is possible, specifically for Southeast Georgia due to a weak cold front but it will be little to no accumulation.

TRACKING THE TROPICS

An area of low pressure located well west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands continues to produce a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.

Environmental conditions appear conducive for some development of this system during the next few days, and a tropical depression could form during the early or middle part of this week while it moves to the west-northwest or northwest at 15 to 20 mph across the central tropical Atlantic.
