JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Today really does look like the best day of the week. Sunshine is taking over, and temperatures are heading to the mid-80s. If you’ve got outdoor plans, this is your window!
This morning, we were already seeing 72 degrees at the 7 a.m. bus stop, with a climb to around 82 degrees expected by 3 p.m. Mostly sunny skies stick around, and the wind is calm, hovering near 5 to 10 mph. For most of us—especially in Jacksonville and along the coast—it’s a “get outside and enjoy it” kind of day. Inland areas started in the mid-60s, the beaches are holding in the low to mid-70s, and by lunchtime, expect patio weather with temps hitting the low-80s.
I can’t fully rule out a stray shower, but the chance is just 5 to 10 percent and mostly limited to spots like Palm Coast, Macclenny, or Waycross. For most, it’ll stay dry. Don’t get used to the dry skies, though. Rain is forecast to return late Thursday through Friday, helping your garden if you’ve been putting off watering, but possibly changing your outdoor plans.
Tropical Storm Jerry
I know a lot of you have seen the headlines and have sent questions about Tropical Storm Jerry. I’m getting so many emails about this storm! But here’s the scoop: Jerry is out in the Atlantic, forecast to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane and pass the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico before it heads toward Bermuda.
As for Jacksonville? We’re in the clear—there’s no threat to us at this time. That’s something I always like to say with a grateful heart, especially as we get deeper into hurricane season and start looking more toward the Gulf and the Caribbean for storm development. But for now, nothing is on our doorstep.
High rip current risk
If the beach is calling your name, keep one thing in mind: we do have a high rip current risk today. Please be careful if you’re headed out to the sand, especially before or after work. It’s the one thing to watch out for with this otherwise beautiful beach day.
Looking at the weekend, there’s more good news. By Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the forecast is looking brighter and drier. Temps will ease into the upper 70s and low 80s, and rain chances drop off, so whatever you’ve got planned outdoors—football, a beach trip, or just relaxing—you’re in good shape.
If you snap any great weather photos, please share them at SnapJAX—we love seeing what you’re up to around town!
