JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – I’m giving you a big smile today, because after so much cloud cover lately, we’re finally heading into a sunnier period across Jacksonville.
We’re expecting partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies today and tomorrow, with most areas likely to stay dry.
There will be a couple of pop-up showers—especially around lunchtime and into the early afternoon—with about a 30% chance some neighborhoods could see a brief shower.
If you have outdoor plans for the next couple of days, things are looking up!
Temperatures are on the rise, too: expect a high of 86 degrees today, climbing close to 90 degrees on Wednesday.
As the week goes on, rain chances should remain low through midweek, picking up again by Thursday and Friday when we drop back to the mid-80s.
If you’re planning ahead for the weekend, it’s looking fantastic. Chances for rain fall back to about 20%, with mostly sunny skies expected both Saturday and Sunday.
By Monday, we’re likely headed back into another dry stretch.
Rip current risks
If you’re thinking about hitting the beach this week, please be cautious. The rip current risk is high today and will likely stay elevated through the weekend.
Surf height is also expected to increase by Friday, with wave heights reaching 6 to 7 feet. If you’re not a strong swimmer, take extra care—wading is fine, but avoid going out too far.
These conditions warrant extra caution for anyone spending time near or in the water.

Watching the tropics
Let’s talk tropics. There is a disturbance in the Atlantic that we’re watching closely—a low-pressure system is expected to have an 80% to 90% chance of development today, tomorrow, or in the next day or two.
Right now, it’s producing mostly disorganized showers and storms.
Even if it becomes a tropical depression, we don’t expect a direct impact on our area at this time. If that changes, I’ll keep you updated on The Weather Authority and Exact Track 4D.
For now, we can all enjoy this round of sunshine and look forward to a much more cooperative stretch of weather.
