Jacksonville game night forecast: Spotty showers expected as Jags face Chiefs

Showers may be few and far between tonight

Football fans: Spotty showers for kickoff

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Hey Jacksonville! I know so many of you are getting ready for tonight’s big Jags vs. Chiefs game, and you’re probably wondering if rain will spoil your game plans.

Here’s what you need to know as you head out: you might want to grab a poncho, but don’t worry too much—these showers are expected to be pretty scattered.

At kickoff around 8:15 p.m., the temperature should be right around 77 degrees. It’s looking mostly dry for EverBank Stadium, but I am seeing spotty showers possible in the area.

Based on what I’m seeing from our Exact Track 4D radar, it’s not likely to be a total washout. Showers may pop up, but they should be few and far between.

If you’re planning to tailgate or meet up with friends before the game, early evening hours look mostly clear over Jacksonville.

By the time the game gets started, have some rain gear close by—just in case (remember, no umbrellas allowed in the stadium!). Overall, I’m feeling good about your chances for enjoying some football with minimal weather worries.

Scattered rain and storms

Let’s talk about the bigger picture. Monday’s weather has been a little nastier than we usually see for October, and showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast, especially through the afternoon.

As of about 6 a.m., it’s dry and in the 70s. But, as we move through the day, rain is expected to develop and become spotty across the region.

Heavy rain will likely be setting up south of Jacksonville, with areas like Palatka, Gainesville, and Macclenny expected to see more of the action.

Most of you in Jacksonville will not see a big washout today—just occasional rain popping up here and there.

Around the time school lets out, expect showers and storms to be an issue, especially by 3 p.m.

A few showers could come off the Atlantic this morning, but the heavier activity looks like it’s staying mostly south.

Over the next five days, we’re looking at totals around a half inch to one and a half inches of rain, depending on where you are.

That’s spread out over several days, so nothing overwhelming for most.

mid-70s

Let’s look at where temperatures are headed. Right now, we’re sitting at 75 degrees in Jacksonville, with the low to mid-70s in Georgia and upper 70s along the coast.

Daytime highs are expected to hover in the low to mid-80s—right near our average of 84 degrees for this time of year.

Winds are already picking up along the coast, sustained in the teens and expected to climb into the 20s as we move through the afternoon—especially on the beach.

If you’re planning a lunch outdoors, keep in mind it could be a bit breezy!

The good news? After today, rain chances are expected to really drop off.

By midweek, you can look forward to some classic October sunshine and higher temperatures returning. Hang in there; better weather is on the way!
