The Atlantic basin is showing signs of increased activity, with one wave currently being monitored by the National Hurricane Center.

Further east, a tropical wave near the African coast is showing more promising signs for potential development:

  • Currently producing broad, disorganized showers and thunderstorms
  • Environmental conditions could support slow development in the coming days
  • Could form into a tropical depression near or east of the Lesser Antilles by late next week
  • Development chances: near 40% (48 hours) / 70% (7 days)

Weak low in the Gulf

An area of low pressure in the North-Central Gulf is causing stormy weather this weekend off the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Expected to continue moving west towards Texas. The National Hurricane Center is reporting no tropical development expected due to strong upper-level winds.
