Watching the tropics: one wave close to development

Two weak areas of low pressure bring stormy weather to Bahamas and Gulf

No description found

The Atlantic basin is showing signs of increased activity with one wave currently being monitored by the National Hurricane Center.

Further east, a tropical wave near the African coast is showing more promising signs for potential development:

  • Currently producing broad, disorganized showers and thunderstorms
  • Expected to interact with another disturbance over the eastern tropical Atlantic
  • Environmental conditions could support slow development in the coming days
  • Could form into a tropical depression near or east of the Lesser Antilles by late next week
  • Development chances: near 0% (48 hours) / 50% (7 days)

Bahamas, South Florida, and Gulf

Two weak areas of low pressure near the central and northwestern Bahamas and one in the North-Central Gulf are causing stormy weather this weekend, as well.
