Coastal Flood Watch Issued as Low Pressure Lifts North

Nor’easter conditions bring heavy rain and strong winds

Nor’easter conditions will build through tonight as the developing low pressure area over the Bahamas lifts north.

Shower and embedded storm activity will expand it across our coastal counties of Florida and Georgia.

Tonight, windy conditions along our beaches along with the potential for locally heavy rainfall.

Current estimated rainfall amounts are shy of a Flood Watch, but may be needed on Friday or this weekend, where rain bands impact our beaches.

Northeast winds of 20-25 mph with gusts of 30-40 mph will continue for the Atlantic Coastal counties through tonight. These are just below Advisory criteria. Inland areas will fade to 10-15 with gusts to 20 mph through tonight.

An increasing chance for showers and storms heading into the weekend as moist onshore flow from the Atlantic builds and an area of low pressure, develops a nor’easter-like pattern with gusty winds and the potential for excessive rainfall.
