Motorcyclist dies after losing control, hitting side of semi on New Kings Road at Trout River Boulevard: FHP

Deadly crash reported on New Kings Road at Trout River Boulevard (Florida 511)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 46-year-old motorcyclist died Friday morning when he lost control at an intersection and hit the side of a tractor-trailer on New Kings Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to FHP, the motorcyclist and the semi driver were both stopped on U.S. 1 (New Kings Road) at a red light at the Trout River Boulevard intersection around 10:30 a.m.

Troopers said that when the light turned green, the traffic started moving forward through the intersection, but the motorcyclist lost control, swerved into the inside lane, and hit the side of the trailer.

The impact knocked the motorcycle over and threw the rider from the bike, FHP said.

The man, who was wearing a helmet, died at the hospital, according to the crash report.

The 52-year-old man driving the semi was not hurt.
