Jacksonville’s telehealth provider Telescope Health strongly denied fraud allegations on Wednesday as the city’s Special Committee on Duval DOGE emergency met to discuss concerns about the company’s multi-million dollar contract with the city.

Jacksonville’s telehealth contractor responded on Wednesday to fraud allegations regarding its management of the city’s telehealth program, which provides health care access for Duval County residents.

Jacksonville’s telehealth program, Healthlink JAX, and its contractor Telescope Health are facing scrutiny as city councilman Rory Diamond calls for an investigation into the city’s telehealth contracts.

Several Jacksonville City Council members met Wednesday evening to discuss the future of initiatives such as Jax Care Connect and Healthlink Jax, which have been used by many in the community.

A day after having to close two hours early because it reached capacity for the number of tests it could administer, the COVID-19 testing site at the former Kmart in Neptune Beach announced Tuesday morning that it was temporarily closing its line for safety concerns.

Two more COVID-19 testing sites are opening in Jacksonville Thursday as the city and neighboring counties wrestle with a surge in new COVID-19 cases. Local hospitals have seen beds fill up with an influx of new patients.

A day after weather concerns halted COVID-19 testing at a Neptune Beach facility, the testing site closed early once again Tuesday.
