14-year-old girl shot in head dies; mother charged
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A 14-year-old girl shot in the head Tuesday afternoon at a home in Arlington has died after spending more than 24 hours on life support. Ayva was shot at a home on Wedgefield Boulevard in Arlington Tuesday evening. Investigators told News4Jax they believe the teen was holding the gun and handed it to her mother when it went off, firing a single shot. Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office responded to the Arlington home shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a 911 call about a child shot. The State Attorneyโs Office later told News4Jax that there was a miscommunication in court.
Police: 14-year-old girl shot in head in critical condition
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ (Note: An officer at the scene first told News4Jax the incident was being investigated as an accidental shooting. The Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office is investigating after a 14-year-old girl was found shot in the head Tuesday evening at a home on Wedgefield Boulevard. Steve Rudlaff, with the Sheriffโs Office, police were called to the house just after 5 p.m. The teenage girl, Rudlaff said, was transported to a hospital for treatment. โThere was an adult family member inside the residence with the juvenile that was detained by patrol,โ Rudlaff said.
Police: Argument between cars leads to deadly shooting
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ One man is dead and another was hospitalized after a shooting Friday night that Jacksonville police said stemmed from an argument at an intersection on the Westside. He said that at about 8:30 p.m., a patrol officer made contact with the black car near Wilson Boulevard and I-295. โWe are possibly looking for an outstanding white vehicle. โAll we do know is that the black car was shot,โ he said. โWe do not know, we cannot say that there was anybody inside the car shooting back.โThe victims in the shooting were not identified.
Man killed in shooting on Lambert Street
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Jacksonville police said a man was killed Friday in a shooting on Lambert Street. According to Sgt. Steve Rudlaff, police were sent to the scene at about 4 p.m. They found the body of a man in his 20s. The man was not identified and there was no description of the shooter.
