Christopher Nolan has been elected to lead the Directors Guild of America.

2005: Filmmaker Robert Wise, who won Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for "West Side Story" and "The Sound of Music," dies of heart attack at age 91 in Los Angeles. Wise was also nominated for Oscars for Best Film Editing for "Citizen Kane" and Best Picture for "The Sand Pebbles."
