A black bear spotted in St. Johns County prompted a warning for residents from the St. Augustine Police Department on Tuesday morning.

Celebrations took place all across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia this weekend ahead of Juneteenth, a holiday that commemorates the emancipation of those who were enslaved in the United States.

The Lincolnville Juneteenth Community Festival is hosting its annual celebration to honor civil rights in St. Augustine on Saturday, June 15.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - A 64-year-old man accused of shooting a man in a St. Augustine park Tuesday was taken into custody about an hour after the gunfire. Police said officers called to Eddie Vickers Park on Riberia Street in St. Augustine's Lincolnville neighborhood about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday found a man on the ground with a gunshot wound. The victim, who has not been named, told police Eubanks shot him. The man, who was shot in the back, was then flown to Orange Park Medical Center.
