More than 900 students walked away with new shoes last week during this year’s Kicks for the Kids giveaway.

shoe drive—returns to give students more than fresh sneakers. It brings them a boost in confidence, a reason to smile, and, for some, the encouragement they need to head back to school.

As families gear up for the back-to-school season, one Positively JAX event is reminding the community what really matters: showing up for kids—literally.

Local families whose children might need new shoes for the fast-approaching school year can now register for the Kicks for the Kids giveaway.

News4JAX and Kicks for the Kids partnered up again this year to help kids in need of a new pair of shoes. This makes 10 years of this partnership.

For the 10th consecutive year, News4JAX has teamed up with the local nonprofit group Kicks for the Kids for a Positively JAX event to help collect donated new pairs of shoes for local students.

Local non-profit and News4JAX has now helped more than 16,000 new pairs of shoes find a child in need over 10 years.

Kicks for the Kids collected 1,656 new pairs of shoes to donate to some of the city’s underprivileged children.

The long-awaited giveaway event will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday at The Bethel Church and will go through Saturday, Aug 6. 1,400 kids are expected to receive new shoes.

Dozens of children who may not have had a new pair of shoes for the new school year got a surprise Wednesday, the first day of the 10th year of the Kicks for the Kids giveaway.

Kicks for the Kids is collecting shoes for students who might not have shoes to wear to school.

Like everything else going on, the distribution of shoes from this year’s Kicks for the Kids campaign will be different this year. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade can receive free shoes on Sunday during News4Jax' Kicks for the Kids event. The event provides new and "gently used" shoes to students who may not have shoes to wear to school. Thats why Kicks for the Kids was created.
