The "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” is one step shy of serving as the SEC East Division title game, with the winner gaining a chokehold on a spot in the league championship game in Atlanta next month. The Gators are averaging 42 points a game thanks to quarterback Kyle Trask, dynamic receiver Kadarius Toney and matchup nightmare tight end Kyle Pitts. The Bulldogs are giving up 16.2 points a game and has been downright dominant in every game outside a 41-24 loss to No. Georgia: QB Stetson Bennett has been far from perfect in the last two games, throwing a combined five interceptions against Alabama and Kentucky. … The Bulldogs are the home team, which means they only got four at Sanford Stadium when the SEC went to a 10-game, league-only schedule.

Appeal rejected in murder of Jordan Davis

Read full article: Appeal rejected in murder of Jordan Davis

Michael Dunn took the case to the Supreme Court in December after the 1st District Court of Appeal ruled against him in the murder of 17-year-old Jordan Davis. The shooting came after Davis and three friends stopped at a Gate convenience store and Dunn pulled into an adjacent parking space. Ultimately, Dunn and Davis exchanged words, and Dunn fired repeatedly into the Dodge Durango that carried the teens. Dunn was convicted of first-degree murder while discharging a firearm, three counts of attempted second-degree murder while discharging a firearm and one count of shooting or throwing deadly missiles, according to the appeals-court ruling in September. At the appeals court, Dunn contended, in part, that he had received ineffective assistance of counsel during his trial.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A state appeals court Monday rejected an appeal by a man convicted in the high-profile shooting death of a teen in a Jacksonville convenience-store parking lot. The Tallahassee-based appeals court rejected an earlier appeal by Dunn in 2016. As an example, Dunn argued that his lawyer was ineffective for failing to hire an expert to examine audio from the convenience stores surveillance video, but the appeals court rejected the argument. An accident reconstruction expert examined the sounds heard on the stores video and made no mention about another gun being fired before Dunn started shooting. Ultimately, Dunn and Davis exchanged words, and Dunn fired repeatedly into the Dodge Durango that carried the teens.
