JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Four people were seriously injured in a chain reaction crash involving five vehicles on the southbound side of Interstate 95 near International Golf ParkwayThe crash occurred Monday night just after 8:10 p.m.Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred when a tractor-trailer traveling in the inside lane of I-95 attempted to make a U-turn. Four vehicles were in the center lane at the time, traveling behind each other. The first oncoming vehicle hit the right, rear tire of the tractor-trailer and a chain reaction crash ensued. The first oncoming vehicle, driven by a 26-year-old with a 75-year-old passenger, was deflected on impact with the tractor-trailer and was rear-ended by a van following directly behind. A fourth and final vehicle, driven by a 27-year-od, was following behind and hit the SUV, spinning the SUV clockwise so that it was facing north.

According to the county, a water main at the center of the advisory has been repaired and lab tests now confirm water provided to the affected area is safe to drink and use.

If you are issued a boil water notice, officials recommend boiling water that you would use for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes for at least one minute. St. Johns County officials said they are hoping to have the problem fixed typically within a minimum of two days. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A deadly hit-and-run crash shut down westbound lanes of International Golf Parkway early Friday morning, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said. was hit by a vehicle and killed sometime between 5 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. near International Golf Parkway and Royal Pines Parkway, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman said. Later in the afternoon, deputies approached a residence where the vehicle was located, in search of 32-year-old Daniel Joseph Vickery. After interviewing the suspect, the officers arrested Vickery and seized the vehicle. Though the suspect is in custody, a further investigation is being led into this deadly hit-and-run crash.

JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - St. Johns County School Board members voted Tuesday morning to approve a plan to purchase land to build a new high school in an effort to ease some of the overcrowding at area schools. If all goes according to plan, the new high school would be open in time for the 2021-22 school year. According to the agreement, the district would pay just over $7 million for the 68.7-acre property owned by the Pacetti family in St. Johns County. The St. Johns County School District said the last time a high school was built in St. Johns was in 2008. According to the school district, current enrollment in St. Johns County stands at 12,320, with the highest enrollment for high schools being at Bartram Trail and Nease.
