Flagler County deputies smashed a car window on Monday to rescue a 1-year-old who was locked inside with the engine off and the windows closed.

A mother and father in Lakeland left their 18-month-old daughter in a hot car overnight, which killed her, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

No one ever thinks it will happen to them, but a record 53 children died of heatstroke between 2018 and 2019, after being left in a vehicle.
