Nearly seven months after an off-duty corrections officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed, the man suspected of pulling the trigger has been extradited to Florida following a lengthy stay in North Carolina, where he was arrested.

Saturday, April 12, will mark 6 months since off-duty Jacksonville Sheriff’s corrections officer, Brad McNew, was shot and killed while intervening during a domestic dispute at a northside gas station.

The man accused of killing an off-duty Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office corrections officer in October 2024 is now charged with first-degree murder after a grand jury returned an indictment against him.
