On Monday, the Tom Coughlin Jay Foundation surprised 11 families tackling childhood cancer with a Winn-Dixie shopping spree.

In 2020, when the global COVID-19 pandemic had spread and people were hunkered down, we all likely thought about things we could do to keep busy or entertain ourselves. That was no different for Reilly Cardella.

One of those children is 10-year-old Lucy Spada from Wisconsin who was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma. She’s really witty and smart and very stubborn.”Last fall, life was normal for Lucy. “She had this significant limp during a game,” recalled Piero Spada, Lucy’s father. As long as you’re with me, I can do this.’”Lucy started treatment at a hospital in Milwaukee. Anderson teamed up with radiation oncologist Erin Murphy, M.D., in steering Lucy’s treatment.
