A former Jacksonville Beach woman accused of hiring a hitman to kill her ex-husband, Jared Bridegan, will appear in Duval County court Friday with her new, high-profile attorney.

The high-profile attorney who’s now representing a Jacksonville Beach woman accused in the murder-for-hire plot of her ex-husband is demanding all the state’s evidence in the case in one of his first court filings.

Jeff Ashton, the prosecutor who handled the Casey Anthony case and who is now a judge in Orange and Osceola counties, is a subject of allegations related to child abuse, according to an executive order signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, News4JAX’s sister station WKMG reported on Friday.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – State records show that Casey Anthony has filed documents to start a private investigation firm in South Florida. The limited liability company, Case Research & Consulting Services, has an effective date of Jan. 1, according to state records. The address listed for the company belongs to Patrick McKenna, according to Palm Beach County property records. McKenna was the lead investigator on Anthony’s defense team during her 2011 trial. McKenna was also the lead investigator for O.J.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lawyers for the Ohio hospital doctor charged with murder in 25 patient deaths accused the prosecutor of misconduct and asked Tuesday that the court dismiss the indictment handed up by a grand jury. Former intensive care doctor William Husel is accused of ordering excessive painkillers for patients who died shortly thereafter in the Columbus-area Mount Carmel Health System. They also requested a copy of the transcript of the grand jury proceedings, which are generally secret. Mount Carmel also has made changes in its operations and reached related settlements totaling more than $16.7 million over the deaths of at least 17 patients. Husel and some of his former colleagues also filed defamation cases that accuse Mount Carmel of spreading a false narrative about what happened.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Local 6 uncovered a new memo filed in the Casey Anthony bankruptcy case in which her attorney suggests that Anthony may have to "disappear" if she's forced to go to trial. The memo, which shows how frustrated Anthony is with the ongoing court battle, says if Roy Kronk and Zenaida Gonzalez are permitted to take Anthony to trial, Anthony "will be forced to find new accommodations, or just simply disappear and say it is not worth the fight anymore." Anthony has argued the case should be thrown out. Gonzalez has a similar name to a fictitious baby sitter who Anthony claimed kidnapped Caylee in 2008. Anthony was charged with murder in her daughter's death but was acquitted in 2011.

TAMPA, Fla. – A bankruptcy hearing ended Wednesday in Tampa with no decision for Casey Anthony, who was acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. Anthony believes that by filing for bankruptcy protection, the two defamation lawsuits from Kronk and Gonzalez should not exist. We want a fresh start," said Anthony's bankruptcy attorney Andrew Chmelir. They wanted the judge to postpone Anthony's bankruptcy discharge until 21 days after their civil defamation trials in state court. "I think the state court, specifically the state court judge, has an understanding of the defamation issues," said Gonzalez's attorney Justin Luna.

ORLANDO, Fla. – A judge on Tuesday denied a motion from Zenaida Gonzalez's attorneys to move Casey Anthony's bankruptcy hearing from Tampa to Orlando. Lawyers for Gonzalez, along with Orange County meter reader Roy Kronk, a witness in Anthony's murder trial, wanted the bankruptcy case moved. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge K. Rodney May ruled, however, that Anthony's case will remain in the Tampa division. Anthony's bankruptcy attorney David Schrader argued that 65 percent of the creditors are outside Central Florida. Gonzalez, who claims Anthony defamed her when falsely claiming a nanny with a similar name kidnapped Caylee, is one of dozens of potential creditors Anthony says may have a claim against her.

Casey Anthony and her mother have reconciled and made a pact to wear matching necklaces that carry the ashes of Anthony's daughter, Caylee, according to People magazine. In an advanced e-copy of the People magazine article titled "The Strange Lonely Life of Casey Anthony," a friend of the "most hated woman in America" says Casey and Cindy Anthony never take the necklaces off. ORLANDO, Fla. – Judge Lisa Munyon on Thursday denied a motion from the Casey Anthony defense team to dismiss the civil lawsuit that has been filed against her by Zenaida Gonzalez, the woman who says Anthony defamed her. The case will proceed toward a start date of January after Munyon ruled there are enough questions about a Zenaida Gonzalez. Munyon said a jury, not a judge should decide the case. Gonzalez shares a similar name as a fictitious baby sitter -- Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez -- who Anthony initially said kidnapped her 2-year-old daughter in 2008. At Anthony's murder trial last summer, Anthony's defense claimed Caylee drowned in the family's swimming pool and, therefore, had not been abducted.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Lawyers for Casey Anthony and Zenaida Gonzalez were back in court Friday in a hearing for Gonzalez's civil trial. Gonzalez's attorneys sought a judgment in favor on some of the allegations for damages. They also cited jailhouse videos in which Anthony claims police never showed her a picture of Gonzalez, when in fact, they did. Gonzalez shares a similar name -- Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez -- as a fictitious baby sitter whom Anthony initially said kidnapped her 2-year-old daughter in 2008. Attorneys representing Gonzalez and Anthony, 25, requested the later date, in part because of conflicts with other clients.

In the deposition, Anthony told Danziger she was repeatedly sexually molested by her father, George Anthony. According to the deposition, Anthony told Danziger she was awoken in June 2008 by her father, who entered her bedroom and shook her, saying Caylee was missing. Although Anthony said she never saw Caylee's body in the family swimming pool, she believes Caylee drowned because she saw her father holding Caylee's body, according to the deposition. Anthony told doctors that her father said, "I'll take care of it," then took Caylee's body away. She told doctors that she never saw Caylee again, according to the deposition.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Casey Anthony is planning to fire her attorney Jose Baez, according to a report in the New York Post. Citing sources, the newspaper reported that Anthony is upset that Baez has not obtained a "big interview deal" for her. Media reports have suggested that Anthony is seeking $750,000 for her first interview since being found not guilty of murder last year in the death of her daughter, Caylee. Two video diaries of Anthony surfaced online last week showing her in front of a webcam discussing her life. The black-and-white video first appeared on Facebook on Wednesday evening and in it, Anthony says it was recorded Oct. 13. Cheney Mason, who was a part of the Anthony defense team at her murder trial, confirmed Thursday that the woman is Anthony. In the video, Anthony has close-cropped, blonde hair and is wearing black-rimmed glasses. The attorney for George and Cindy released this statement; "Cindy and George were made aware of the video diary of their daughter this morning, January 5th 2012. WKMG-TV investigative reporter Tony Pipitone traced the video to a Facebook posting from 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Defense attorney Cheney Mason, who represented Casey Anthony in her first-degree murder trial this summer, announced Thursday that he is penning a book to expose what went on behind the scenes of the controversial trial. Mason made the announcement as he left an Orange County Bar Association meeting, which was attended by several of the major players in the trial. Mason said the book is nearly done, and he expects it to be released by the end of the year. Anthony, 25, was found not guilty of murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee, who disappeared in June 2008. He also spoke at the Florida Bar meeting about the Anthony case.
