JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville will be opening another COVID-19 vaccination site at a senior center -- this time in one of the city’s underserved neighborhoods. Individuals who are feeling sick should not go to a vaccination site. After receiving the vaccine, patients must stay on site for at least 15 minutes to be monitored for potential reactions by healthcare and emergency professionals. While allergic reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine are rare, this safety measure is in place out of an abundance of caution. The city’s new senior center vaccination site opens as a group of local church and community leaders announced their own plan to do the same.

On Wednesday, the write-in candidate -- Frank Bourrie -- withdrew from the race with a handwritten note, securing Cook as sheriff-elect. Its designed to wipe out the write-in loophole when it comes to statewide elections. Darryl Daniels has been suspended as the Clay County sheriff since he faces charges and was arrested less than a week ago. On a side note, there was a write-in candidate in the superintendent of schools race in Clay County.

"We're committed to making Jacksonville city government more efficient, effective and responsive to community needs," said Mayor Alvin Brown. "Innovative use of information technology is key to improving our city government and achieving the best return on taxpayer dollars. The city of Los Angeles ranks first, and the cities of Kansas City, Mo., and Seattle, Wash., share second place. Jacksonville shares the third place ranking with Louisville, Ky., and is the only Florida city ranked among the nation's largest metropolitan areas.
