JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Camden County didn’t take long at all to find its next head football coach.
Just two days after parting ways with its head coach, the Wildcats announced the hiring of veteran Jon Lindsey to lead the program. He replaces Travis Roland, who was fired on Wednesday after going 13-8 and missing the state playoffs this season.

Lindsey is a well-known name in Camden football country.
He was the defensive coordinator under iconic head coach Jeff Herron during the 2008 and ’09 state championship seasons and was the DC for the Wildcats again during Herron’s final season in 2023 when they reached the state semifinals.
Camden County Schools superintendent Tracolya Green said Lindsey is a perfect fit for the program.
“Having a head coach who knows Camden, its people, its values, and its expectations is vital during this transition. Coach Lindsey’s passion for this community and his understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest classification of football in Georgia make him the right person to lead our Wildcats forward,” Green said in the statement.
Lindsey has served as head coach at Irwin County, Cook, East Paulding and Appling County during his coaching career. He has a career record of 44-31-1, according to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association.
