JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A day after the Jaguars announced they had traded to bring Jakobi Meyers to Jacksonville, the former Raiders wide receiver arrived in town and wasted no time getting into the “Duuuval” groove!

In a post on the team’s Instagram account, Meyers said he’s “super, super, super excited” to be joining the Jags and is ready to get to work.

He’s already starting off better than Jags head coach Liam Coen, whose infamously mangled “Duuuval” has become a running joke for fans.

The trade for Meyers immediately upgrades Jacksonville’s receiving corps.

The team announced that it is sending fourth- and sixth-round picks to the Raiders for Meyers, one of the most sought-after wideouts at the trade deadline.

Meyers (6-2, 193 pounds, 28 years old) has 33 catches for 352 yards this season. He’s coming off a season where he had 1,027 yards and four touchdowns. In his career with the Raiders and Patriots, Meyers has 4,944 yards and 20 touchdown catches.

Jacksonville (5-3) desperately needed to do something at receiver. Dyami Brown and Brian Thomas Jr. both left Sunday’s game against Las Vegas injured.

Rookie Travis Hunter went on injured reserve last week. And top tight end Brenton Strange has been on IR for three weeks.

In addition to those injuries, Jacksonville just hasn’t seen good enough production from its pass catchers. It leads the league in drops.
