JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Every year, city officials urge University of Florida and University of Georgia fans to arrive early for the annual rivalry matchup at EverBank Stadium.
But this year, that message is being emphasized even more.
“Be aware of how to get to the stadium. Where to park,” said Matt Blasy, General Manager with Legends Global Jacksonville, which handles logistics for the annual game.
Construction on the Stadium of the Future in Jacksonville is expected to cause some delays for fans getting into the stadium.
“We always ask for our events for people to arrive early. This year, we’re saying you might want to arrive just a little bit earlier, just to accommodate,” Blasy said. “And not only arrive early to the parking lot, but also to the gates just because of the impact to the stadium.”
Gates will open at 1:30 p.m., and officials are asking fans to start heading in to their seats early “to avoid last-minute gate pressure, which frequently occurs before kickoff.”
Fans are also encouraged to check tickets in advance, so they know which gate to go in with all the construction.
The city said magnetometers will be in place to enable fans to walk through carrying their clear bag and leaving their cellphone and keys in their pockets.
After you get through the gates, you’ll head to the self-scan ticket kiosks to have your mobile tickets scanned.
With the construction, guests are encouraged to use the ramp closest to their entry gate for direct access to the main and upper concourses.
Normal walking routes and traffic patterns could also be impacted, so be patient and plan ahead for longer delays.
The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
This year, the Gators are the home team and will be located on the West side of the stadium. The Georgia Bulldogs are the away team and will be located on the East side of the stadium.
Parking, shuttles
The game day parking lots open at 8 a.m. and officials want eventgoers in their parking spot(s) five hours before game time.
