JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tough day.

The mistakes finally caught up to the Jaguars in Sunday’s 20-12 loss to the Seahawks. The team has echoed all season that even with the wins, they hadn’t played their best football for four quarters.

The penalties, missed field goal, blown coverages, all of those showed up, and those were the difference in the game.

Liam Coen said, “it’s on me.”

While you have to appreciate the fact that the head coach wants to take the blame for the loss, there is enough blame to go all the way around. Every phase made mistakes, offense, defense and special teams. They should shoulder some of the blame for the loss.

If we are being honest, the offensive line is carrying a big chunk of the weight for this one. They got worked most of the day. Trevor Lawrence was sacked seven times. He was hit and pressured repeatedly. Tough to take advantage of a banged-up secondary without time to operate. Up until now, the O-line had done some really good things. This was one rough day against a team with a good front seven.

But even with everything that went wrong — and everything did go wrong — the Jags still had a chance to win that game. For as bad as they played, they still hung around and kept the door open. Games like this in the past were blowouts. This was a one-score game with chances late.

The sky really isn’t falling, even if it feels like it. I mean, coming off the high of that Monday night game knocking off the Chiefs, to the low of this loss to the Seahawks, it is easy to say, ‘welp,’ and just throw your hands up.

But this isn’t the time to do that. This was the toughest stretch of the Jags season. This team is 4-2, and they have the sixth-easiest schedule in the NFL the rest of the way.

On their worst day, a good Seahawks team couldn’t close the door on them. Somehow, I feel like this team is going to be just fine. Stuff to work on and clean up, sure. But that stuff exists even in wins. Everyone says it’s better to learn from wins. That is the right thing to say, but losses really light the fire to shake things up and solve problems.
