Touchdown for Eye Health: 600+ students gifted free eye exams and a chance to meet Jaguars players

Jags teamed up with Sight For Kids to make the opportunity happen

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than 600 children from the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida had a dream day at EverBank Stadium — meeting Jacksonville Jaguars players and getting a life-changing checkup.

The Jaguars teamed up with the Sight For Kids program to provide free eye exams for students, many of whom were having their vision tested for the very first time.

Eye health experts say one in four school-age children has a vision disorder, but those issues often go undiagnosed — and can be mistaken for behavioral problems or learning struggles.

The good news: most vision issues in kids can be corrected with something as simple as glasses.

Sight For Kids — co-founded by Johnson & Johnson and Lions Clubs International Foundation — is the world’s largest school-based eye health program. The goal is to help children in low-income communities get access to critical care and set them up for success inside and outside the classroom.

For many of the kids at EverBank, the day was about more than just football. It was about seeing their heroes clearly — and maybe, for the first time, seeing a brighter future.
