PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Friday Night Lights are back — and so is one of the biggest rivalries in Northeast Florida.
Our Game of the Week is the “Battle of the Bridge”: Nease at Ponte Vedra High.
Since 2009, Ponte Vedra has dominated the rivalry, winning 11 of the last 15 games.
But Nease has won the last two years in a row.
The energy was already electric Friday morning at Ponte Vedra.
This is always the game circled on the calendar, and this season, both teams are raising the stakes even higher.
For the first time, the Sharks take the field on brand-new turf, installed over the summer to replace the grass.
From the band to the cheerleaders, to alumni and families filling the stands — the energy around this game stretches across the entire community.
And for the players stepping onto this field tonight, the rivalry runs deep.
"Having this community behind us is something special. There’s going to be so many people here and just to know that they all have our back at this game is really special,” Ponte Vedra quarterback Cole Rosendahl said.
This game is sold out.
