Jacksonville – It is back-to-school time, and Carley Smith aka the Fairy Gutmother, is here to share a few gut-friendly recipes to support your child’s immune system this year! Nearly the entire immune system resides in the gut, so keeping it strong is crucial to staying healthy throughout the whole school year. Check out her website www.fairygutmother.com for her gut-healthy meal prep delivery and more recipes as well as the recipe for Chocolate Milk Yogurt below!
- Heat one liter of chocolate milk to 82°C / 180°F or bring to a boil. Let it cool down to 42-44°C / 108-112°F (no thermometer? Dip your finger in the milk it should be warm but not hot).
- Add 1 sachet of Yogourmet yogurt starter and stir until completely dissolved.
- Pour the mixture into the pots and place them in your yogurt maker.
- Incubate for a minimum of 8 hours (I like to cover yogurt with a towel and place it in a cabinet, like below the sink, where it will stay warm but not hot, or cool) or until the yogurt has reached the desired consistency.
- Refrigerate for about 8 hours to stop fermentation. Consume within 7 days.
