Local author creates storybook as a legacy for her daughter

What began as a legacy for her own family is now an invitation to yours. Inspired by her daughter and created for her, Averie Lynn, My Best Friend by Courtney Jackson was born from a deep desire to share the universal concepts she wished she’d known earlier—ideas that gently remind us that happiness, worth, and inner strength don’t need to be earned or defined by others. They begin from within.

As Courtney began sharing these insights with Averie, she realized something was missing. While many books focus solely on practical behaviors, she craved a narrative that would plant seeds of emotional awareness, inner resilience, and empowerment—ideas that have shaped her own life and can resonate with children as early as age one.

She set out to write the book she couldn’t find, and now it is blossoming into a series. These thoughtfully crafted stories entertain while inviting quiet reflection. They meet children exactly where they are and offer adults a chance to slow down, listen inward, and grow alongside them. Through this lens, a generation is nurtured that feels steady, whole, and capable of facing life’s uncertainty with calm, objective presence.

Inside, readers will meet:

  • The Grumbles – Sneaky, misunderstood mischief-makers who whisper self-doubt and chase glittery distractions. With mindfulness and kindness, they can be soothed.
  • The People of Ah-Tumble – Colorful and curious souls, always chasing joy yet often brushing aside big feelings. Averie helps them remember what truly matters.
  • Averie – A gentle, grounded guide who shows that there is no need to run from thoughts or feelings. With presence and practice, one learns to meet them with awareness—discovering that worth and resilience have always resided within.

These stories are an invitation to both children and adults—a call to explore, reflect, and grow together in compassion, curiosity, and connection.
