Using hypnosis to ease back-to-school anxiety in children

Hypnotherapist and psychotherapist Joni Neidigh joined us to share practical advice for easing children’s anxiety as they headed back to school. She emphasized how important it was for parents to start open conversations with their kids about common worries and to normalize their feelings. Neidigh suggested proactive approaches, such as helping children visualize positive outcomes and teaching self-soothing techniques like square breathing, as well as anchoring confidence through simple physical cues. By focusing on solutions and encouraging a positive mindset before challenges arose, she explained that children could build resilience and feel more prepared for school. For ongoing or intense struggles, such as test anxiety or bullying, she recommended that parents seek additional support from qualified professionals.
