Through Our Lenses hosts Arts in the Garden event focused on mental wellness within the Black & brown LGBTQ+ community

TOL is also accepting submissions now for November’s film festival

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Those who want to engage in an important discussion about mental wellness within the Black and brown LGBTQ+ community are invited to attend the Arts in the Garden event on June 21.

The event, hosted by Through Our Lenses, will be from 6-10 p.m. on June 21 at the Jessie Ball DuPont Center (The Jessie) at 40 E. Adams St. in Jacksonville.

The cost is a $15 donation, and there will be a panel discussion with content creators and artists, culminating with a fashion show titled: “Unmasking the Stigma of Mental Health.”

Film festival

Through Our Lenses offers an annual platform for Black and brown members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to express themselves and address social issues with its November film festival.

Submissions are being accepted now from filmmakers, content creators, film producers and other creatives who are committed to raising awareness around various social topics in this community.

“We’re going to give everybody an opportunity. This is their chance to shine through our film festival, going down in November,” said Zacery Boatman, marketing manager for TOL.

All socially and civically inclined individuals are encouraged to reach out and submit entries at www.toljax.com.

“A lot of times we run into a situation where we feel like we can’t be heard,” Boatman said. “We want to hear you. It’s a safe space.
