Meet the artist behind the critters that are displayed around Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – If you’re from Jacksonville or have explored the area, chances are you’ve noticed colorful, whimsical creatures perched on trees, nestled in yards, or brightening up local businesses. You can thank local artist Scotie Cousin for bringing that playful energy to the city through his distinctive public art.

Scotie Cousin is a local artist whose work you’ve likely spotted in some of the most unexpected locations around town. Deeply passionate about his community, Cousin feels incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to brighten people’s days through his art.

He estimates that about 40 percent of his work involves giving back and doing things for others, while the rest helps support his livelihood—after all, we all need to make a living.

Cousin creates a wide variety of art, not just his signature whimsical critters, but also paintings, sculptures, and functional pieces like chairs and clocks.

You can find Scotie Cousin’s art at the Atlantic Beach Arts Market, located at 1805 Mayport Road, right across the street from the “Cousin Zoo,” which is in front of the Consider It Yoga studio.
