Bark and Brew: The Jumbo Shrimp’s first dog day of the season is this Sunday, April 27

Jumbo Shrimp kick off season with Bark and Brew Day, fresh stadium vibes, and family fun

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are sliding into the new season with a winning record, a revamped ballpark, and a full slate of fan-friendly events — including their much-loved Bark & Brew this Sunday.

The team is off to a strong start, boasting the best record in baseball so far, according to Jumbo Shrimp spokesperson Noel Blaha. But it’s not just the action on the field that’s drawing crowds.

The freshly renovated VyStar Ballpark features new amenities, including a stunning center-field entrance, shrimp boat seating areas, and the mouthwatering aroma of freshly smoked barbecue courtesy of pit boss Juan.

“We’ve reimagined the food experience,” said Blaha, who added that fans can look forward to everything from coconut shrimp to BBQ burnt ends. “It smells so good all day at the ballpark.”

One of the season’s most anticipated events, Bark & Brew Day, takes place April 27, allowing fans to bring their four-legged friends along to enjoy the game. While Friday and Saturday will light up the skies with fireworks, Sunday belongs to the pups — and to Southpaw, the team’s beloved mascot, who apparently is most excited about the food.

Families can also enjoy the new Power Alley in right field — a shaded, indoor space perfect for cooling off — and a kid-friendly turf play area in center field.

Beyond games and fun, community engagement remains a top priority for the organization.

“We want to be a community asset,” Blaha said. “We want to have an affordable option for families to come out and just get away from the rigors of real life.”

Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars for the upcoming Honey Drippers weekend over Memorial Day. For four games this summer, the team will suit up as the Jacksonville Honey Drippers, complete with special uniforms and themed concessions. Swag is already selling fast in the team store.
