Table Roots Act I: A Farm to Fork Experience on February 25

The Clara White Mission is hosting Table Roots Act I: A Farm to Fork Experience on February 25 at 4 pm. Tickets are $125 per person. Tickets are on sale now at tableroots.eventbrite.com. The goal is to raise $5,000 to fund youth programming focused on agriculture, conservation and the arts.

The community is encouraged to attend and learn more about local Black Historic icons, Eartha White and A. L. Lewis. Both were vital to the development of the Clara White Mission and Eartha’s Farm and Market, the 10.5-acre farm located in Historic Moncrief Springs.

Award-winning Chef Jeff Johnson will showcase his passion for Southern cuisine by curating a five course meal made with locally-sourced ingredients from farms like Eartha’s Farm & Market.

The event will feature renown anthropologist, speaker and author Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole alongside cultural curator Carol J. Alexander, the director of the A.L. Lewis Museum in historic American Beach.

The longtime sister-friends will take guests on a journey through Black culinary history, arts and agriculture. The Clara White Mission continues to raise awareness about food insecurity in Jacksonville. The Roots of Southern Cuisine Weekend experience is designed to shine a light on food desert communities and spark more community engagement among Northside neighborhoods. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Contact Ju’Coby Pittman, CEO of the Clara White Mission to get more information.
