CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – In Clay County, a rare celebration unfolded Monday as family and friends gathered to wish Elizabeth Arneal Kart a happy 103rd birthday.
It’s an age most will never see.
Born on March 10, 1922, Elizabeth Arneal Kart entered the world during a time when commercial radio had just begun and alcohol was banned. She has witnessed the terms of 18 United States presidents.
At 103 years old, she is the envy of many. When asked how she reached this age, Kart said, “When you’re doing it, you don’t know you’re on your way, so you just live a typically normal life.”
One by one, her family and friends offered hugs and birthday well wishes.
A friend shared, “She’s been a blessing in my life. I’ve been through so much, and she’s always been there for me.”
Kart’s life began in Lansing, Michigan. She married and had two boys. Now, she has grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She worked as an accountant for decades before retiring. When asked about the secret to reaching 103 years old, Kart said walking and salads help.
“And of course, I can’t live without peanut butter,” she added.
Family and kindness have also brought her to this milestone.
When asked, “What helps you live a good long life?” Kart responded, “My family has been especially good to me and helps me out.” When asked if being a people person contributes to longevity, Kart said, “I think so. It helps; it makes you happier, it makes me happier.”
On this special day, everyone captured a family photo to mark the occasion, marveling at her full life.
Beside her were her 82-year-old son Ron and his wife. The celebration concluded with the traditional birthday song.
Happy Birthday, Mrs. Kart!
