JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This Thanksgiving more than a dozen families of cancer patients are thankful they can put food on the table with help from a local foundation.
One woman who’s battling breast cancer said getting a box of groceries from the Pink Ribbon, Blue Skies Foundation’s annual Stuff the Trunk food drive came at just the right time.

“Oh my goodness, the box had everything in it. Even the gift cards to get the essentials that maybe weren’t in the box,” said Kira Knight-McKay. “I don’t think there’s anything else I have to get besides some cheese.”
She said knowing she has one less issue to worry about this Thanksgiving means a lot.
“It humbles you a lot and makes you feel like there are true angels out there,” Knight-McKay said.
The Pink Ribbon Blue Skies Foundation helps families of people battling breast cancer and prostate cancer.
Volunteers have helped cancer patients and survivors financially, and made sure these families have food on the table during the holidays.
This year, Founder and President Charlise Charlot said the foundation provided 14 families with baskets of groceries for Thanksgiving.
Charlot said the organization’s mission is to eliminate the emotional distress of cancer survivors and their families.
“It’s unbelievable to hear these stories. It’s just heartbreaking,” Charlot said. “They need the support of the community and at the same time, they need to know someone else is there that cares, that’s walking this fight with them.”
Pink Ribbon, Blue Skies helps families throughout the year, and it always welcomes donations.
