JSO said its homicide unit is at the scene completing its investigation, along with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office.

Police added that the woman was found in her home because her landlord, who hadn’t seen her since Friday when she was in the front yard of the home, managed to enter the residence and found her on the floor inside a locked room.

Police also said that the house had six rooms, but only two were occupied on the downstairs level, and two more were occupied on the upstairs level, and that all tenants are cooperating with the investigation.

Additionally, no weapons were located on the premises and the only other person in the home at the time was the victim’s elderly mother, JSO said.

The investigation remains active, and the circumstances surrounding the death are undetermined. Police said they expect to be at the scene for at least a couple more hours as they process all the information.
