NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. – The Fletcher High School Marching Band is making Duval County proud as they compete at state this year.
According to a volunteer with FHS Band Boosters, the 80-student band, has been undefeated in regional competition for the last two consecutive years and placed third at state last year. Plus, the band has been rated overall “Superior” by the Florida Bandmasters Association for at least 21 years in a row.
Fletcher is also the only DCPS band that competes in the national Bands of America circuit.
The program operates almost entirely through community support, which is why is asking for the community’s support to keep rocking.
To help cover the program’s costs, the marching band will hold its annual silent action fundraiser in early December.
The silent action will be held Friday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Southern Swells Brewing in Jacksonville Beach. All money raised helps the band keep rising through concerts and competitions.
