Man found shot to death inside garage of Mandarin home: JSO

This marks the 10th shooting across Jacksonville since Friday night

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found shot to death inside a garage of a Mandarin home Monday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. at a home on Rustic Green Court, near Losco Road.

The victim, who was identified as a middle-aged man, was found dead inside the garage, police said.

“He was a good man, but even a better father,” the victim’s brother-in-law told News4JAX. “He showed me how I could be a cornerstone if I need to, how many young men could be a cornerstone. That’s mainly the thing I want to say about him. He was a great person, but even a better father. He cared about his community.”

News4JAX also spoke to neighbors who said they were shocked to hear what happened.

“It’s a sad thing. Not the kind of thing that you hear back here,” a neighbor said.

Police said two people are in custody and are being questioned.
