JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Robert Palmer, owner of Jacksonville Armada FC, announced the sale of the professional soccer club to a Jacksonville-based business owner, marking a new chapter for the team.

Palmer, who acquired the Armada in July 2017, said owning the team was a lifelong dream made even more meaningful by his family’s deep ties to Jacksonville. He and his wife, Jill, who grew up in the area, once lived in Neptune Beach.

“Our main goal has always been to return the first team to the pro ranks,” Palmer said. The club aligned with Major League Soccer’s (MLS) lower-division structure and secured downtown real estate for a future stadium with city support.

Palmer said changes in his personal and professional life, including growing his family and expanding his real estate business, have limited his ability to provide the local presence and daily commitment the club needs.

“I’m proud to share that we have come to terms with a Jacksonville-based business owner to acquire the Armada and carry forward the vision we set in motion eight years ago,” Palmer said.

He added that his companies will remain involved as sponsors during the MLS approval process.

Palmer thanked fans, especially Section 904, for their passion and loyalty.

“My belief in the Armada’s potential has never been stronger,” he said.

Further details about the transition will be shared as the sale progresses.
