3 weekend shootings in Jacksonville leave 4 injured, 1 critically

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three separate shootings across Jacksonville within a 12-hour span this weekend left four people injured, with one victim suffering life-threatening injuries, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The string of violence began Saturday evening at the Red Roof Inn on Harts Road.

Around 5:30 p.m., a man in his early 20s was shot in the right shin near the motel’s front entrance, according to police.

Investigators said the suspect sped away in a white SUV, which was later found abandoned nearby.

Officers recovered approximately eight shell casings from the scene. The victim remains in stable condition.

Less than 90 minutes later, at 6:48 p.m., officers responded to another shooting on Evergreen Avenue in the Phoenix neighborhood.

The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg, told police he was walking in when he heard a loud pop and realized he had been shot.

JSO said they were unable to locate a crime scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The most serious incident occurred early Sunday morning outside a bar on Edgewood Avenue South.

According to JSO, officers responded around 3:40 a.m. to find a man in his 30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

They said the victim was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A second victim, also in his 30s, later transported himself to a hospital and was reported in stable condition.

Investigators said a large crowd had gathered in the parking lot after the bar’s closing when an altercation led to the shooting.

Law enforcement said the crowd dispersed immediately after the incident, leaving police without witnesses.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone with information about all three incidents to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or email jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
