JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The City of Jacksonville is looking to join the fight against hunger by supporting the “Peanut Butter Challenge,” and is asking residents to spread the word and make a donation, or two.
The challenge asks residents of Northeast Florida to donate unopened jars of peanut butter at the UF/IFAS Extension office in their county. All donations will go to local food pantries with the hope that they will help a family in need.

Donations will be accepted until Friday, Oct. 31.
"Jacksonville, it’s time to spread the love – literally,“ Mayor Donna Deegan said on social media. ”Peanut butter is more than just a pantry staple – it’s shelf-stable, packed with protein, and a lifeline for families...Let’s show just how generous and compassionate our city can be."
For Duval County residents, drop-off locations are at the following:
- City Hall (117 W Duval St.)
- Main Library (303 N. Laura St.)
- Ed Ball Building (214 N. Hogan St.)
- Duval County Extension (1010 N. McDuff Ave.)
