FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Flagler County officials appointed Percy Sayles as the deputy county administrator after the death of former Deputy County Administrator Jorge Salinas.

Sayles brings more than 31 years of public sector experience and is recognized for his leadership and dedication to excellence.

For the past four years, he served as deputy fire chief for Flagler County Fire Rescue.

“I am excited and honored to have Percy join the Administration,” Petito said. “While we all continue to miss Jorge, Percy was someone he held in high regard. It is fitting that he will help carry on the important work we have started together as we continue to move our organization and community forward.”

Sayles previously worked with the City of Tamarac, Florida, where he rose through the ranks to become fire chief and served as interim assistant city manager.

Sayles holds a master’s degree in public administration, a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and an associate’s degree in fire science, nursing, and emergency medical service.

He shared his appreciation for the opportunity to serve as the county’s deputy county administrator.

“It is truly an honor to be entrusted with this role,” Sayles said. “I look forward to supporting our talented team, building on the foundation Jorge helped create, and continuing our commitment to excellence and service to the residents of Flagler County.”
