JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating four separate shootings that occurred within 13 hours between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning, leaving two people dead and two others injured.
The first shooting occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday inside a business on Lane Avenue South, where a man was fatally shot.
The second incident took place around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near Philips Highway and Baymeadows Road. The victim walked into a local hospital after the shooting and later died from his injuries. Police found multiple pieces of evidence at the scene.
“I typically come five days a week, usually not as early, but it is still alarming that something so bad could happen,” said Karrie Ray, who regularly visits a gym in the area.
Around 3 a.m. Sunday, a person was shot in the leg near Norde West Drive, south of 103rd Street. The victim transported themselves to the hospital after being shot during an argument. Police arrested someone at the scene.
A resident described the area as “a beautiful neighborhood” with “great neighbors,” though noting, “I’ve seen some things come and go. Great things and some cons as well.”
The fourth shooting occurred around 4 a.m. on Myra Street, about a block east of Stockton Street. A man was shot in the chest following a confrontation.
JSO said the man was in stable condition.
