“Our final day of service will be Saturday, October 4, 2025.”
“These last few months have brought challenges, and while we had hoped to continue through October, the time has come to say goodbye,” the statement added.
“For more than 41 years, Brett’s has been more than a restaurant — it’s been a place for family, friends and memories. We are deeply grateful to our guests and community for your loyalty and support. None of this would have been possible without you, and you will always be part of the Brett’s family.”

Many locals have fond memories of celebrating milestones and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere Brett’s provided.
“People have their favorite table. They come here for New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July shrimp drop,” City Manager Sarah Campbell said in June, reflecting on the cherished local establishment.
A 2021 study revealed significant deficiencies in the building’s foundation. The city has determined the structure is unsafe and must be demolished.
The café’s last day of operation was originally set for Dec. 31, 2025.
Several proposals have been presented to city commissioners for the site’s future. Options range from a floating dock costing $365,000 to a more elaborate restaurant with a pier and pavilion, estimated between $2.5 million and $3 million.
Other proposals include a pier extension and pavilion for nearly $2 million or a restaurant with a dock extension priced at $1.5 million.
The city is committed to exploring all possibilities to ensure the new development meets the community’s needs, Campbell said.
