JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The UPSHOT League and Zawyer Sports & Entertainment held a news conference Wednesday morning to reveal the team name and introduce the head coach of Jacksonville’s new professional women’s basketball team.

Bogia expressed her commitment to be the best in the league.

“I want you to know that this team is here not only to compete and to win, because we will win, but to elevate the community and the city that we represent. Our team will embody the spirit of the River City. We will be united, resilient and rooted in pride,” Bogia said.

The Jacksonville Waves basketball team will compete in the new UPSHOT League set to begin play in May 2026.
