Lifeguards were on standby at Jacksonville Beach with the yellow flag up, meaning moderate conditions that could include rip currents.

A visitor from New Jersey said he needs to go there more often.

“This is the first time I’ve surfed Jacksonville Pier and I’m wondering why I haven’t surfed it more,” Jack Kondreck said.

The waves crashed along the coast with storms out at sea, leaving surfers excited for what’s to come.

“Yeah I’m stoked for it, its supposed to be pretty crazy. So hopefully we will get some good sessions in,” Samuel Adams said.

St. Johns County Emergency said local impacts could include dangerous beach and boating conditions developing late Sunday into next week.

Nassau County said that could involve high surf up to 7 feet, strong rip currents and rough marine conditions. There is a low storm surge threat and no major dune impacts are expected.

Camden County, the cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine, Kings Bay Naval Base, and Camden County Schools are urging citizens to prepare and be aware.

Duval area officials said it’s important to “Stay weather-aware as conditions can still change.”
