JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars are locked in as they prepare for their first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, but it seems like that won’t stop the organization from taking some time away from the football field in the name of giving back to the community.

On Wednesday evening, the team, along with Academy Sports + Outdoors and former Jaguars players Greg Jones and Jordan Todman, gave away $200 gift cards to 20 youth athletes, totaling $5,000, to help cross off a few items from their back-to-school list or add some gear for their particular sport to their collection.
“For even more value, we are thrilled to host this back-to-school donation shopping spree during Florida’s monthlong sales tax holiday, stretching each kid’s dollar further,” officials told News4JAX.
The giveaway took place at 6 p.m. at Academy Sports + Outdoors, 9041 Southside Blvd.
“Academy Sports + Outdoors is committed to helping students gear up for success on and off the field. Academy’s donation is one of several across its footprint to help deserving kids get the essentials they need for a fun and confident start to the school year,” the organization said in a news release.
